US Politics: same as usual

I can't believe THESE are the kind of people who are vying to lead our country. No wonder our country is slowly going down the toilet...so sad. We have no chance.

Was it true, Lauer asked, that the vetting of Sarah Palin was so woefully inadequate that no one from the campaign traveled to Alaska to interview her husband or any of her political opponents?

"I wouldn't know," McCain said. "The fact is that I'm proud of Sarah Palin, I'm proud of the campaign we waged, she energized our party, she will be a major factor in American politics in the future, and I'm proud of our campaign."

Somewhat taken aback, Lauer told McCain that he found it "somewhat surprising" that he didn't know anything about the vetting process, adding "You were the presidential candidate."

McCain testily shot back by saying that he had no intention of "looking back over what happened over a year ago," adding, "I'm sorry, you'll have to get others to comment on it."

From the new book 'Game Change' by New York magazine's John Heilemann and Time Magazine's Mark Halperin:

- that the affair between John Edwards and his campaign videographer was known about and kept quiet by three of his aides from early on. Edwards comes off in the book as a man with a massive ego and delusional tendencies. His wife Elizabeth is described by insiders as being "an abusive, intrusive, paranoid condescending crazywoman."

- that former President Bill Clinton was involved in an affair in 2006 that many thought would derail Hillary Clinton's run for the presidency and he offended Ted Kennedy deeply while trying to win his endorsement for his wife's campaign by saying the following about then-candidate Obama: "A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee."

- that Sarah Palin believed Saddam Hussein to be behind the attacks on 9/11, didn't understand why North and South Korea were separate (the Korean War) and that she could not properly pronounce Joe Biden's name. The book contends that Palin was a mentally unstable person prone to wild mood swings, describing her being hopelessly lost in a "catatonic stupor" at one point during the campaign.

Obama surrounded by idiots?

So I think we all knew this Presidency would be the complete opposite of the last Presidency, especially since Obama was voted in under the theme of "change." But it's starting to be very interesting to see the ways in which the "opposite nature" of his leadership is being revealed.

At a recent White House press corps debriefing, the White House Secretary chastised a reporter for following-up on the "white house party crashers" issue and wondering if someone within the White House (other than the Secret Service) may have been to blame. Here's the video:

What's interesting is how Bush and his cronies used to get pissy over national agenda and the questioning of their stalwart stance towards that agenda. Now Obama and his cronies get pissy over social agenda and their lack of organization.

What's also represetnative of the inherent difference in Presidencies is who make up these "cronies." Whereas it is assumed that President Bush was a figurehead who alllowed his political team to run the country and make decisions, President Obama clearly has surrounded himself with less intelligent and less reliable staffers.

It's going to be an interesting 4 years!

Ass-urance on insurance

I'm going to stop the political posts for a while because they make me mental, but some things have been bothering me in the media lately and I need to vent. Even if only to myself and the few people who accidentally view the website looking for legit information that will help aid you in life, like Craigslist's Casual Encounters page or the Drinkers Against Mad Mothers website (BTW, this dude is going straight to hell.)

Anyhell, the U.S. is closer to a healthcare reform bill. Now, I haven't been keeping up with this healthcare debate because I purchase PPO plan through my work. Always have, always will...hate waiting to get permission from HMO's to go see a doctor when I want. So, the bill doesn't have an impact on me directly, other than possibly increasing the amount I pay because insurance companies will raise all rates to cover the fines and increase imposed on them by this bill. But, that's the insurance companies doing for screwing over average citizens, right? Not the government. Isn't the insurance companies who refuse to cover pre-existing conditions that might actually lower the likelihood of developing complex medical conditions that burden the reimbursement system? Yep. Isn't it the insurance companies that raise malpractice rates and force hospitals to up charges in order to cover? Uh huh. Rather than complaining about illegal aliens (BTW, there's a lot more uninsured Americans who receive free treatment in hospitals than illegals...it's called Medicare) ruining things, how about implementing a system that warrants having to provide ID in order to be covered under the public plan?

Nope, let's keep listening to the idiots out there who come up with clever campaigns like this poster:

And by idiots, I'm not talking about the GOP right. I'm talking the big insurance lobby that doesn't want the good times to end for their companies and be forced into competitive rate cuts!!!!

Senator Wilson proves South Carolina lacks has class.

As if the story of South Carolina's Governor wasn't funny enough (remember no one could find him...then his aids said he was hiking for a couple of days...then it turns out he was hiking up his mistress' skirt in South America?), now there's this Congressional outburst controversy. Maybe Jimmy thought he said, "You die!"? I love how the last lines of the article are the most compelling argument.
In 2003, Wilson called it "unseemly" and a "smear" for the mixed-race daughter of Sen. Strom Thurmond, Essie Mae Washington-Williams, to identify the longtime South Carolina senator as her father after his death. After a public outcry, he reversed course and said he had the utmost respect for Washington-Williams.

As a state senator, he was an outspoken opponent of efforts to remove the Confederate flag from atop the South Carolina Statehouse.

Who says the media is too liberal? Sounds kind of damning to me! If the shoe fits...

Speaking of shoes, does pat Boone have a pair that match his jacket in this photo? I couldn't find a photo of Wilson with the confederate flag, but this one with Pat Boone is even better. Whatta patriot! (Where's Waldo alert: what's with the guy in back making fun of Pat's "creative" American outfit? He's probably a terrorist. He's definitely un-American fo sho.)

U.S. flaccid thanks to Bush.

President Bush did a heck of a job destroying the U.S. domestically and abroad. Mind boggling how many Americans still like him and think he did a great job. A great job at what? Tax refunds? That's about it...and one could argue those refunds came from President Clinton's economy. And looking at the state of this economy now, were those refunds a good idea? People lost their jobs, lost their houses...but they got $600 per person per household! Whoopee!!!

Not that President Obama is a savior, but at least he accepts this country is in disrepair and something needs to be done. Other, than talking about tax refunds, oil drilling and the 2nd Amendment.

Obama: git r done

Finally, some good news about the economy.

Many believe the economy could start growing again by summer or, more likely, by the final quarter of this year, as the impact of tax cuts and increased government spending on big public works projects contained in Obama's $787 billion stimulus package takes hold.

So much for Obama's first 100 days being mixed results. Kind of fitting his first 100 days saw major agendas (end of the war, Stimulus Plan, repairing international relations) for success drafted similar to the 100 days FDR drafted the New Deal.

Obama has signed more executive orders, memoranda and proclamations in his first 100 days than any president since Franklin Roosevelt. One notable order lifted former President George W. Bush's restrictions on federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research. Obama also spent more of those first months outside the country than any of his 43 predecessors, according to the American Presidency Project .

Obama blasted for being as stubborn stalwart as Bush?

100 days into the Presidential term, so you know what that means? Time to start getting negative. Which, coincidentally is exactly what the US needs right now to fix the economy and America's reputation abroad. According to recent polls:
the Pew Research Center says Obama has the most polarized early first-term job approval ratings of any president in the past four decades, part of a long-term trend of partisanship becoming more apparent in the measurement.
Now, I'm not saying Obama has done anything spectacular yet or that everyone has to love every decision he makes right now, but clearly, some shady politics are brewing. Political windbags are saying politics are becoming increasingly bipartisan due to redistricting and new media outlets. Uh huh. Let's cut the BS:
Given that bipartisanship is a two-way street, it's possible that Republicans are too resistant to working with the president, while Obama himself isn't willing to compromise enough. At the very least, there are deep and sincere differences between Republicans and Democrats, and they may be too difficult to overcome. Republicans contend Obama hasn't delivered at all.
So let's get this straight? Former President Bush gets to play "you're either with me or you're a terrorist/liberal/un-American" hard ball for 8 years, and he's considered stalwart and dedicated. President Obama trie playing hardball, and he's not compromising and not delivering...in 100 days? I love how this country thinks!

For 8 years, President Bush messed up this country (and the world?), in more ways than one (financially, environmentally, theologically) and we can't cut Obama a break 100 days in. Brilliant!

My only hope is that if Obama can fix this country and return it to the great place that make Americans proud and makes other countries envy, people will remember that the GOP and their conservatism is what almost ruined this country, not elevated it.

Nailin' Palin. Again.

I posted previously that I'd miss the ole gal if Obama won. You know there's a truckload of skeleton's in Sarah Palin's closet just waiting to burst open. Sadly, I think her daughter being a dumb, slutty teen with a broke, redneck babydaddy isn't even the "meatier" of the skeletons. I saw THIS headline this week announcing that Todd Palin (You know, that guy who stands next to Sarah Palin a lot while smiling. The mute guy who races snowmobiles. Yeah, him.) has a half-sister who's a thief/burgler. She might be going to jail. I'm sure sexy Sarah will pull strings to make sure that doesn't happen (hey, her ex-brother-in-law is a State Trooper, or so I hear...), but kind of funny to know some even worse hillbillies would've been in the White House than Bush. Too bad Obama won. Oh well, at least America's reputation will be fixed, the economy will be fixed and some world peace might actually happen.

In other related news, Sarah Palin is running Alaska into the ground (didn't she say last year that Alaska had a surplus and doesn't need handouts?) since she pissed off so many of her constituents and coworkers. Oh, and she's busy arguing with Bristol's babydaddy, Levi. Give'em hell!

You know it.

Obama's new stimulus package

Only his new stimulus stimulating package can "pump" money into the economy.

Warning: he's a gifted orator!

Media bias? Yep and no shame to it.

Should we really blame them for jumping ship? It's not like all of us wouldn't do the same for job security. So what if it's in syncopation with an American President who talks about healthcare and education rather than terrorism and oil. Duh, who would you rather work for? Lastly, why wouldn't journalists be more aamenable to working for a Democratric President? Journalists are marked with a scarlet letter labeled all the time by conservatives for being too biased towards liberal agendas. Republicans throw them under the bus and then are shocked when they try to hold on for an escape ride?

Iraq withdrawl soon? About freaking time!!!

President Obama is considering options for withdrawing troops from Iraq. I think we can all see now that invading Iraq under the red herring of WMD's was a mistake. Especially when most intel clearly did not show Osama bin Laden involved with Iraq or Saddam Hussein. But let's call a spade a spade: we're just wasting money staying over there and pissing off the Muslim world even longer. Let Iraq rebuild themselves and bring our troops home. They have to have space madness at this point. Er, wait. Desert madness.

Imagine if the pierced girl kept in touch?

There's a tv show on WTTW that films in Chicago called "Check, Please!" The show is a half hour where 3 Chicagoland patrons highlight their favorite restaurant, they each eat at each other's suggested locales, and then they compare notes. It's a entertaining show because you get to see wide variety of restaurants from all of Chi-town and it's burbs. On January 16th, a lost episode of the show will be airing, because it was never aired during the show's first season in 2001. The lost episode is being aired mainly because of one of the guest reviewers on that particular episode:

SC priest taking on the "Renegade."

The Secret Service gets the honor of coming up with code names for the president-elect and his family. Mr. Obama will be known as "Renegade." Michelle, a woman of many talents, will be referred to as "Renaissance." Malia Obama's name will be "Radiance," while little sister Sasha's will be "Rosebud."

And what of the Bidens? His name will be "Celtic." His wife Jill will be "Capri."

Now I know how to spot intrinsic evil!

Good to know there's still seperation of church and state:

"Voting for a pro-abortion politician when a plausible pro-life alternative exists constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil, and those Catholics who do so place themselves outside of the full communion of Christ's Church and under the judgment of divine law. Persons in this condition should not receive Holy Communion until and unless they are reconciled to God in the Sacrament of Penance, lest they eat and drink their own condemnation."
I prefer to look at the glass as half-full. People in South Carolina have a legit reason to skip church...well other than wanting to sleep in on a Sunday.

Er, somebody tell Sam the unlicensed plumber.

Ohio fucked McCain. Actually, the economy fucked McCain. Guess suspending his campaign to promote socialism (because we all know a goverment controlling banks is socialism, right?) didn't work.

So, Obama's President. Not officially yet, but Obama just has to win Cali, Oregon and Washington (combining for 73 electorals) for him to win. For those old, redneck, racist Republican voters who didn't finish school, that means McCain could sweep the rest of the country and still not win. Don't wake him to tell him though. Let him get his rest tonight. Sleep keeps death away.

Like I said, I'm sad no more Palin posts. No more Tina Fey on SNL genius! Sucks. Guess we'll see in 2012 if she'll become the first PILF!

Not as cool as "Flash 4 Obama," but I'll give them credit for getting their idea out there early.

Rednecks for Obama

Some of their slogans:

'I don't care about his beer, I care about his intelligence.'
'We've had many democratic presidents, and we will still have our guns.'
'He is brilliant. And he's not an elitist, though he has the education to be.'
'We need to build the economy from the bottom up, none of this trickle down business. Just because you're white and southern don't mean you have to vote Republican.'

Some of my slogans, if I was a genius like these guys and started my website earlier in the election:

'I like boobs and so does Obama.'
'McCain wants Cold Wars. Obama wants cold nipples.'
'Obama supports the economy and breasts. He'll use his head for both.'
'Obama motorboats.'

I need to copyright this shit before someone steals it!

Obama in mortal danger?

I'll have to search for more articles on this subject, but it's very alarming to me that more isn't being written/discussed about assassination attempts on Obama. There's been several white supremacy groups who have been in the news lately and now this.

Another assassination attempt

Remember the guys on crystal meth who tried to get into the DNC with semi-automatic rifles? I love how that was written off as "they weren't serious and were on drugs." So if you smoke crack you can do whatever you want?! Brilliant logic.

You gotta love a political party who's platform is encouraging for white supremacists, suburban methheads and gun rights advocates. Proud to be an American? Darn tootin'!
