US Politics: same as usual

I can't believe THESE are the kind of people who are vying to lead our country. No wonder our country is slowly going down the toilet...so sad. We have no chance.

Was it true, Lauer asked, that the vetting of Sarah Palin was so woefully inadequate that no one from the campaign traveled to Alaska to interview her husband or any of her political opponents?

"I wouldn't know," McCain said. "The fact is that I'm proud of Sarah Palin, I'm proud of the campaign we waged, she energized our party, she will be a major factor in American politics in the future, and I'm proud of our campaign."

Somewhat taken aback, Lauer told McCain that he found it "somewhat surprising" that he didn't know anything about the vetting process, adding "You were the presidential candidate."

McCain testily shot back by saying that he had no intention of "looking back over what happened over a year ago," adding, "I'm sorry, you'll have to get others to comment on it."

From the new book 'Game Change' by New York magazine's John Heilemann and Time Magazine's Mark Halperin:

- that the affair between John Edwards and his campaign videographer was known about and kept quiet by three of his aides from early on. Edwards comes off in the book as a man with a massive ego and delusional tendencies. His wife Elizabeth is described by insiders as being "an abusive, intrusive, paranoid condescending crazywoman."

- that former President Bill Clinton was involved in an affair in 2006 that many thought would derail Hillary Clinton's run for the presidency and he offended Ted Kennedy deeply while trying to win his endorsement for his wife's campaign by saying the following about then-candidate Obama: "A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee."

- that Sarah Palin believed Saddam Hussein to be behind the attacks on 9/11, didn't understand why North and South Korea were separate (the Korean War) and that she could not properly pronounce Joe Biden's name. The book contends that Palin was a mentally unstable person prone to wild mood swings, describing her being hopelessly lost in a "catatonic stupor" at one point during the campaign.

Obama surrounded by idiots?

So I think we all knew this Presidency would be the complete opposite of the last Presidency, especially since Obama was voted in under the theme of "change." But it's starting to be very interesting to see the ways in which the "opposite nature" of his leadership is being revealed.

At a recent White House press corps debriefing, the White House Secretary chastised a reporter for following-up on the "white house party crashers" issue and wondering if someone within the White House (other than the Secret Service) may have been to blame. Here's the video:

What's interesting is how Bush and his cronies used to get pissy over national agenda and the questioning of their stalwart stance towards that agenda. Now Obama and his cronies get pissy over social agenda and their lack of organization.

What's also represetnative of the inherent difference in Presidencies is who make up these "cronies." Whereas it is assumed that President Bush was a figurehead who alllowed his political team to run the country and make decisions, President Obama clearly has surrounded himself with less intelligent and less reliable staffers.

It's going to be an interesting 4 years!

Palin and Prejean go Jezebel!

Jezebel.com posted a great write-up on the parallels between Sarah Palin and Carrie Prejean. See this link to "Palinizing" Prejean, Prejeanizing Palin: Two Conservative Women Look Out For #1." Here's my favorite part of their analysis:
Neither Palin nor Prejean seem to understand that while they ask America to sympathize with their victimization, they're also asking us to support policies that victimize others. Prejean's views on gay marriage and Palin's beliefs about reproductive rights (and welfare, and healthcare reform) aim to restrict people's freedom to live the way they want. To espouse these views while complaining about handlers who try to rein them in and reporters who criticize them reveals a staggering egocentrism.
Well, don't all conservative, selfish great famewhores think alike?!

Going "Ho"gue: How Sarah Palin still doesn't get it

Like any hard-working famewhore, Sarah Palin has a book to pimp out. She's putting on her tired Joe-sixpack "I'm just like you" fake persona heels and doing her best trick strut to hit the cold Alaskan street corners airwaves and pages for interviews. Lucky for us, POLITICO got ahold of Palin's book before it's spun to death. They put together some snippets and paraphrasing from the book which I'd like to add my own spin to:
John and Cindy McCain receive fulsome praise throughout the book from Palin, him as a brave American hero and her as a mix of elegant lady and Every Mom.
An American hero who Palin was more than happy to step over in order to gain popularity. And nothing says everyday mom like a spoiled rich pill popper, right Governor beauty queen Sarah?
Taking issue with what she said was Schmidt’s attempt to get her a nutritionist, Palin observes: “As he lectured, I looked at his rotund physique and noted that he used nicotine to keep his own cognitive connections humming along.”
I love how judgemental Palin can be one minute and yet ask for sympathy when the mirror is turned on her. How old was your daughter in the MySpace photos showing her drinking? How much did you sell the previous governor's airplane for? How was your brother-in-law fired as a cop again?
“This picture says it all,” Palin writes in the caption. “A dark hotel room in Philadelphia and a frustrated Mark Wallace trying to tell me which of his non-answers I should give during debate prep.”
Sarah, your debating was all fluff! Without those non-answers, you had nothing. If you'd listen to McCain's camp, you may have actually of won your debates. Christ, the times you "went rogue," you sounded like an idiot. And onto the Katie Couric issue...
Palin accuses Couric of having gone easier on Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden, and twice claims that the newswoman’s own clothing stylist was actually part of the team hired by the GOP to outfit the vice-presidential candidate for the campaign.
Yes, this is true. Instead of asking Joe Biden where he gets his news, she asked him his favorite color.

Sarah Palin on Oprah

Here's Carrie Prejean's hero doing what she does best! Er, what is that exactly? Looking and sounding like a moron, of course! Below is a clip of her saying no one knew (neither her nor her campaign) that her infamous interview with Katie Couric was something to be concerned about. Yeah, because saying you read "all of newspapers and magazines" to get your news is a savvy answer.

How great is it that a dumb lumberjack, hockey bum is the father of her illegitimate grandchild and will now be showing his dong on film to make some cash for knocking up other bitches diapers and baby food? That sh*t just writes itself.

Prejean: a primadonna on Larry King

Carie Prejean goes on Larry King with a book to promote and has a problem when he asks a legit questions that is in no way confidential ("What is your motivation for settling?"). Whether Carrie Prejean was unfairly treated during and after the Miss America pageant is debatable. (Personally, I don't fault her for her opinion on gay marriage and it was a loaded question.) However, her actions and the revelations from her personal life (skinhead brother, sex tape with an ex, etc.) have demonstrated that she's clearly not someone who should've been representing the USA in any way. And what bothers me the most about her (and many of her conservative counterparts) is her lack of accepting responsibility. She answered stalwartly and boastfully honestly at the pageant, but yet it is the media's fault. She made a sex tape, but she's not a complete whore it's not her fault. She sues for religious discrimination, but she's a sanctimonious Aryan-nation slut it's not her fault.

And of all people to pull this on: Larry King? Lady, you're not that big of a guest for him. And consider yourself lucky he asked those questions to keep your 15 minutes running. Being a dumb b*tch is the most interesting thing about you!

Newsflash: Bush doesn't know Jack Matt

I love how Bush's cronies played the "I don't know you" card. Like when you hooked up with someone at closing time (we've all been there...) and then the next night you pretend not to know each other. Not sure why they're on the defensive. This tell-nothing we already didn't know or suspect tell-all book sounds boring.

Glenn Beck: Satan's mentally challenged younger brother

Glenn Beck is a tough one. Not because what he says is strong in logic, but because I'm not sure anyone can get a read on him or what he stands for in tangibles or specifics. On the one hand, it's easy to take potshots at EVERYTHING and get people riled up in paranoia and mass witch-hunts. On the other hand, he seems to take shots at everything equally, albeit vaguely (capitalism, socialism, Dems, GOP), so he's not choosing sides necessarily (which I appreciate). If only he could get people to turn out at the polls and vote for a viable 3rd party candidate for President...I wouldn't care what kind of nutso stuff he cries about!

I hate the polarity of the political landscape in the United States. However, Glenn Beck makes me recognize that sitting in the middle and taking the best talking points from each side isn't the answer either.

Then again, if Chuck Norris is with Glenn, he can't lose an argument. Chuck drop kicks arguments without breaking a sweat.

Ass-urance on insurance

I'm going to stop the political posts for a while because they make me mental, but some things have been bothering me in the media lately and I need to vent. Even if only to myself and the few people who accidentally view the website looking for legit information that will help aid you in life, like Craigslist's Casual Encounters page or the Drinkers Against Mad Mothers website (BTW, this dude is going straight to hell.)

Anyhell, the U.S. is closer to a healthcare reform bill. Now, I haven't been keeping up with this healthcare debate because I purchase PPO plan through my work. Always have, always will...hate waiting to get permission from HMO's to go see a doctor when I want. So, the bill doesn't have an impact on me directly, other than possibly increasing the amount I pay because insurance companies will raise all rates to cover the fines and increase imposed on them by this bill. But, that's the insurance companies doing for screwing over average citizens, right? Not the government. Isn't the insurance companies who refuse to cover pre-existing conditions that might actually lower the likelihood of developing complex medical conditions that burden the reimbursement system? Yep. Isn't it the insurance companies that raise malpractice rates and force hospitals to up charges in order to cover? Uh huh. Rather than complaining about illegal aliens (BTW, there's a lot more uninsured Americans who receive free treatment in hospitals than illegals...it's called Medicare) ruining things, how about implementing a system that warrants having to provide ID in order to be covered under the public plan?

Nope, let's keep listening to the idiots out there who come up with clever campaigns like this poster:

And by idiots, I'm not talking about the GOP right. I'm talking the big insurance lobby that doesn't want the good times to end for their companies and be forced into competitive rate cuts!!!!

Senator Wilson proves South Carolina lacks has class.

As if the story of South Carolina's Governor wasn't funny enough (remember no one could find him...then his aids said he was hiking for a couple of days...then it turns out he was hiking up his mistress' skirt in South America?), now there's this Congressional outburst controversy. Maybe Jimmy thought he said, "You die!"? I love how the last lines of the article are the most compelling argument.
In 2003, Wilson called it "unseemly" and a "smear" for the mixed-race daughter of Sen. Strom Thurmond, Essie Mae Washington-Williams, to identify the longtime South Carolina senator as her father after his death. After a public outcry, he reversed course and said he had the utmost respect for Washington-Williams.

As a state senator, he was an outspoken opponent of efforts to remove the Confederate flag from atop the South Carolina Statehouse.

Who says the media is too liberal? Sounds kind of damning to me! If the shoe fits...

Speaking of shoes, does pat Boone have a pair that match his jacket in this photo? I couldn't find a photo of Wilson with the confederate flag, but this one with Pat Boone is even better. Whatta patriot! (Where's Waldo alert: what's with the guy in back making fun of Pat's "creative" American outfit? He's probably a terrorist. He's definitely un-American fo sho.)

U.S. flaccid thanks to Bush.

President Bush did a heck of a job destroying the U.S. domestically and abroad. Mind boggling how many Americans still like him and think he did a great job. A great job at what? Tax refunds? That's about it...and one could argue those refunds came from President Clinton's economy. And looking at the state of this economy now, were those refunds a good idea? People lost their jobs, lost their houses...but they got $600 per person per household! Whoopee!!!

Not that President Obama is a savior, but at least he accepts this country is in disrepair and something needs to be done. Other, than talking about tax refunds, oil drilling and the 2nd Amendment.

America: Land of Useless Legislation and Wasted Efforts

We can't pass bills to fund schools so our future generations have access to quality education, but politicians can waste their time on this? Politicians wasting our tax dollar and their time is nothing new. What burns me about this bill is it's flawed in its sponsor's [Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.)] own agenda!

“Does that mean 2009 is not the year of the Bible?”

Michael Savage banned from entering England

Well, at least one country knows how to handle conservative assh*les. He should be banned just for being conceited enough to change his name from "Weiner" to "Savage." Isn't Weiner a Jewish last name? Is he a mate-mongering Jew?

How ironic would it be for him to be Jewish and on the same ban list as skinheads, neo-Nazis and the KKK?!!

Obama blasted for being as stubborn stalwart as Bush?

100 days into the Presidential term, so you know what that means? Time to start getting negative. Which, coincidentally is exactly what the US needs right now to fix the economy and America's reputation abroad. According to recent polls:
the Pew Research Center says Obama has the most polarized early first-term job approval ratings of any president in the past four decades, part of a long-term trend of partisanship becoming more apparent in the measurement.
Now, I'm not saying Obama has done anything spectacular yet or that everyone has to love every decision he makes right now, but clearly, some shady politics are brewing. Political windbags are saying politics are becoming increasingly bipartisan due to redistricting and new media outlets. Uh huh. Let's cut the BS:
Given that bipartisanship is a two-way street, it's possible that Republicans are too resistant to working with the president, while Obama himself isn't willing to compromise enough. At the very least, there are deep and sincere differences between Republicans and Democrats, and they may be too difficult to overcome. Republicans contend Obama hasn't delivered at all.
So let's get this straight? Former President Bush gets to play "you're either with me or you're a terrorist/liberal/un-American" hard ball for 8 years, and he's considered stalwart and dedicated. President Obama trie playing hardball, and he's not compromising and not delivering...in 100 days? I love how this country thinks!

For 8 years, President Bush messed up this country (and the world?), in more ways than one (financially, environmentally, theologically) and we can't cut Obama a break 100 days in. Brilliant!

My only hope is that if Obama can fix this country and return it to the great place that make Americans proud and makes other countries envy, people will remember that the GOP and their conservatism is what almost ruined this country, not elevated it.

Media bias? Yep and no shame to it.

Should we really blame them for jumping ship? It's not like all of us wouldn't do the same for job security. So what if it's in syncopation with an American President who talks about healthcare and education rather than terrorism and oil. Duh, who would you rather work for? Lastly, why wouldn't journalists be more aamenable to working for a Democratric President? Journalists are marked with a scarlet letter labeled all the time by conservatives for being too biased towards liberal agendas. Republicans throw them under the bus and then are shocked when they try to hold on for an escape ride?

25 24 People to Blame for the Financial Crisis

Time magazine just released a list of 25 People to Blame for the economic collapse. One of the people on that list, former President Bill Clinton, just released a statement to reject the notion that he should be lumped in with men like former President George Bush, former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan and the Countrywide CEO.

Per the Time mag piece:

"President Clinton's tenure was characterized by economic prosperity and financial deregulation, which in many ways set the stage for the excesses of recent years.
Clinton set the stage of excess by making the economy booming. Times were great! I think he deserves credit for that rather than blame for things that happened AFTER he was impeached (that he had no control over nor could foresee).

"Among his biggest strokes of free-wheeling capitalism was the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which repealed the Glass-Steagall Act, a cornerstone of Depression-era regulation. He also signed the Commodity Futures Modernization Act, which exempted credit-default swaps from regulation."
This bill was never debated by the House or Senate. In substance, it appears that the leadership of the Republican-controlled Senate and House incorporated the deregulation of credit default swaps into an omnibus budget bill (without hearings or recorded votes)at a time when the outgoing president was in no position to veto anything.

In 1995 Clinton loosened housing rules by rewriting the Community Reinvestment Act, which put added pressure on banks to lend in low-income neighborhoods.
Because passing legislation to help lower-income Americans obtain the American dream home is such a bad concept. How could Clinton foresee that banks and mortgage companies would use such legislation to pimp suggest high risk ARM loans and second-tier loans to lower-educated lower income borrowers?

"It is the subject of heated political and scholarly debate whether any of these moves are to blame for our troubles, but they certainly played a role in creating a permissive lending environment."
2 of the bills referenced in this article were passed in December 2000: after Clinton's impeachment, during his lame duck period until Bush was sworn in and at a time when both houses of Congress were Republican majorities. So, how is he to blame exactly?

Anyone hungry for red herring? Get it straight: Clinton f*cked his intern, not the economy!

Recession survival kit

Yep, you can survive the recession without spending a dime of your own money or government money. Here's how!

You will need to gather the following.

Assemble items as shown.

Apply as shown.

You don't need the kit to survive? Then assemble the kit for your favorite GOP friend. It's cheap and not effective: they'll love it!

Stimulating the soapbox

I haven't posted much on politics since the election (with the exception of emphasizing Sarah Palin's stupidity) because I want this to be a fun blog. Politics can get serious real fast, even when parodying. But, I felt the need to comment on recent events with the economy and the recent stimulus package. I'll try to be brief and to the point:

After spending $596,690,000,000 (and growing) on the Iraq war and cutting tax rebate checks for every American, how dare Republicans and fiscal conservatives preach frugalness and criticize wasteful spending!!

(BTW, that $596 billion figure is from THE COST OF WARwebsite.) Take a look in the mirror, Repubies. I just don't understand how someone in good conscience can turn a blind eye to an extremely wasteful situation like the war spending, then turn-around to chastise the new stimulus plan as a bad idea.
"The bill that was about jobs, jobs, jobs has turned into a bill that's about spending, spending, spending,"
You know, because trying to keep people in their homes and give them jobs is such a waste. Somebody needs to remind selfish GOP "conservatives" about The New Deal.

What am I saying? The U.S. is about dropping bombs and killing people for oil, not spending money on Socialism, right?

STFU Sarah

I know it's after the election, but Sexy Sarah keeps figuring out new ways to get her name in the papers and is trying soooo desperately to stay in the public spotlight. So, I'll do her a favor and keep talking about her too (even though we're all better off without her). Palin had some choice words during in interview for an anti-Obama documentary recently. (Side note, why were documentaries about Bush or 911 considered anti-American and this one isn't?)

On Caroline Kennedy getting liberal media bias:
I’ve been interested to see how Caroline Kennedy will be handled and if she will be handled with kid gloves or if she will be under such a microscope. It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.
First off, how hard is it to read quotes from Palin without her stupid accent running through your head? I can't not do it! Secondly, does her sentence make grammatical sense? I can't follow it and I've read it three times. I think she's saying she was scrutinized pre-election because she's of a lower class than Caroline Kennedy. I mean, no one's arguing she's lower class, but maybe the fact that Kennedy isn't a famewhore seeking attention, means she's less scrutinized? Oh, and the fact that she has chosen to do charity work for her entire adult life, which is indicative of her caring for people other than herself.

On others getting ratings at her expense:
I did see that Tina Fey was named entertainer of the year and Katie Couric’s ratings have risen. And I know that a lot of people are capitalizing on, oh I don’t know, perhaps some exploiting that was done via me, my family, my administration. That’s a little bit perplexing, but it also says a great deal about our society.
One of my pet peeves? When people say "I don't know," yet you know they know exactly what they're saying and/or thinking. I hate that. If Palin is so upset with Fey doing her impressions, why did she go on SNL with her? Why did she say she went as Tina Fey for Halloween? Why has she said multiple times she thought it was funny? Now that the election's over, not so funny. Katie Couric's rating went up not because she took advantage of Palin. She just happened to get lucky enough to capture this moment:

Bet Palin regrets telling Terry he's part of the liberal media bias and using her to get popularity and ratings! Dayum!!

Monday, December 29, 2008

Hey baby. I missed you.

A reason to post about Sarah Palin. It's our lucky day. Oh wait...her whore daughter just popped out another Puritan idiot SPAWN. Guess we're not so lucky.

Now that I think about it, did the babydaddy ever make an honest woman of Sexy Sarah's daughter? Now that they're not in the White House, guess there's no sense pretending they're going to be a family, huh? Wooooosh. There goes their family values out the window!
